Fabio Cannavaro, born on September 13, 1973, in Naples, Italy, is a former Italian professional footballer and current coach. He played as a defender and is currently the head coach of Udinese Calcio.
Cannavaro is historically significant for being the first defender to win both the FIFA World Player of the Year and the Ballon d'Or.
He also holds the record for the most appearances for the Italian national team, with 136 caps.
From 2002 to 2010, Cannavaro served as the captain of the Italian national team.
Between 2006 and 2007, he won numerous accolades, including the World Cup, La Liga title, Ballon d'Or, FIFA World Player of the Year, and World Soccer Player of the Year.
On July 9, 2011, Cannavaro announced his retirement from professional football.
